MANILA, Philippines — What began as a routine fan interaction after a concert has turned into an unexpected international trail involving a missing smartphone and a mystery suspect.

Actor Lance Carr revealed that a phone stolen from him in Quezon City last year has since been tracked all the way to Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, based on location data from a tracking application.

Carr shared the surprising update during a media conference for the Viva One series Hell University, held at Viva Café in Araneta City on January 21, 2026.

From Greenhills to Guangdong

According to Carr, the phone’s movement was monitored through the device’s built-in “Find My Phone” feature, which showed an unexpected journey after the theft.

“Ang update sa cellphone ko, nasa Shenzhen, Guangdong, China na po siya ngayon,” Carr said. “Nag-mall stop muna siya sa Greenhills bago pumunta ng China.”

(The update on my cellphone is that it is now in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. It made a stop at Greenhills before heading to China.)

He added that when he checked the latest location update, the device had already left the Philippines.

“Nung nakita ko na bagong location, nasa China na siya,” he said.

Phone Stolen After Concert Appearance

Carr’s phone went missing on August 15, 2025, following the Vivarkada concert at the Araneta Coliseum, where he had met fans after the show.

Amid the post-concert crowd and photo opportunities, the device was taken without his immediate knowledge.

Security footage later reviewed by authorities reportedly captured an unidentified woman taking the phone. Despite the footage being described as clear, the suspect’s identity remains unknown, and no arrest has been made as of this writing.

An Ongoing Mystery

The unusual international movement of the device has sparked curiosity online, especially amid concerns over stolen phones being resold or dismantled abroad. Greenhills, mentioned in the phone’s travel history, is widely known for electronics trading, including secondhand gadgets.

Carr has not disclosed whether legal action is still being pursued, but the case highlights how stolen devices can quickly move beyond local jurisdictions, complicating recovery efforts.

Despite the incident, the actor maintained a light tone during the press event, focusing on his upcoming projects and his role in Hell University.

For now, the phone’s journey from Quezon City to China remains unresolved—another reminder of how even a simple theft can turn into a cross-border mystery.
